Cooking Papa, Building Mama

The annual Australian toy sale is happening across the major chain stores. EggEgg was sitting on my lap going through their online catalog today. Upon seeing the kitchen set, EggEgg exclaimed, "Nana!" (That's the closest pronunciation of "蛋蛋 EggEgg" that he could manage).

Flip to the page with the skateboards, another "Nana!"
Flip to the page with Bob-the-builder toys, more "Nana!"
Flip to the page with the sandpit, the cubby house, the Legos, the basketball hoops (?! Even basketball hoops?!), more echoes of "Nana! Nana! Nana!"

During the debriefing session at night, Tonton wondered, "Maybe we should get him the Borsch Drill Hardware Kit instead. Why does he want to get cooking sets, that's a girly toy!"

Aha, the explanation is simple.
"Daddy's the one who cooks in the house while Mami's the one who's does the DIY stuff. Isn't it obvious who's the role model here?"

To be honest, I did make various attempts into the cooking territory in the past 11 years. But alas, it is no good, I just don't have the patience/talent/name-your-excuse for the cooking affair.

In redemption, there are certain food that I do cook well, and those are, unfortunately, the ones that does not fill up the tummy: cookies, muffins, puddings, salads, cakes, playdough (ahem!)

EggEgg loves to cook this kind of non-nutritional items too. Amazingly, he can chomp down piping hot cookies & creme brulee & baked apples straight from the oven. There is no need to nag him, "Hurry up, eat up your food." I wish dinner times are as easy as this.

Animal shaped cookies: for his pre-school's mothers' day stall. EggEgg helped me punched out the animal shapes.

Creme Brulee: EggEgg was terrified of the burning torch and fled out of the kitchen when I caramelised the sugar

Baked apple: the raisins were delicately shoved in by EggEgg. He's been chanting "焗焗焗 (bake, bake, bake)" since lunch.

Cinnamon cheese toast: while wearing Daddy's tshirt since we've run out of dry clothes.
