Uncle [亞高]
Date of discovery by Dr Egg: 2 years 5 months old
Definition: Common in Asian society, a younger person would address an older male person with a generic term "Uncle". A polite term for any Tom, Dick or Harry. The female equivalent is "Auntie".
Usage notes: I had been unable to decipher this particular word for some time, until one day, we were having picnic in the park. A man was jogging along the perimeter of the field, when EggEgg suddenly pointed to him and said, "亞高?"
叔叔 [dut dut]
Date of discovery by Dr Egg: 2 years 4 months old
Definition: 叔叔 refers to the Uncle in the family. The true relative. Sometimes it can also be used to refer to a familiar male person, somebody to whom we can put a name.
Usage notes: EggEgg dropped his toys and suddenly pointed out to the mailbox where a motorbike has just passed by. He informed me, "Yao ya dut dut!" (郵差叔叔 Uncle Postman)
