We are sick, but we are happy

Morning: The throbbing headache and stuffy nose from last night has improved. Cola's no longer coughing. We're happy rolling on the bed for ages, giggling, counting baby toes, not needing to wake up until "the sun is shinning on my pat pat", as Tonton puts it.

Midday: Packed a ham-and-cheese sandwich & fruit juice, pushed Cola on a stroller in a slow long walk. I though the sunshine might do us some good. It's just the 2 of us, and I was able to give a tour commentary along the way with a hoarse voice: "Look, that's a tree with Mami's favourite pink flowers. Spring is coming... That's a truck. Will you become as crazy about trucks as your brother eventually... The clouds are fluffy today, don't you think so?"

Lunch: We came to rest on a green soccer field, and settled down for an alfresco lunch. Cola is trying to snatch my sandwich. I gave him huge chunks of cheese and bread. Our appetite are surprisingly good despite our illness.

Afternoon: We slept, and slept, and slept. I woke up, looked at Cola, and drifted back to sleep again. He woke up, looked at me, and went back to sleep too. Eventually, we both wake up at the same time.

Evening: Tonton held Cola in a superman pose, chasing me round and round the lounge room, sending us into peals of laughter. It's like rediscovering the joy of being first time parents again. We had the rare chance to lavish all our energy and attention on Cola alone. How much happier would he be if he were the only child in the house!

Dinner: Even better appetite. Who can resist Iron Chef Tonton's dishes?

Night: Took a hot shower with Cola to wash away the snot, germs and weariness. Cola melted into a putty in my arms. His eyes were closed, warm streams of water dripped over his face, over his long lashes. He's sleeping peacefully as I waltzed him around in the steamed cubicle.
