In the evening, we went to the supermarket. Shopping with them is an adventure, though Tonton often avoid it with all sorts of excuses: "I'll be back really soon, you stay with them at home, ok?"
EggEgg is the captain of the trolley, and Cola sits patiently in the baby seat behind, entertaining himself by chewing his chubby fingers. Lo and behold, under the bright fluorescent lights, the 2 kids look so much alike, yet so different. EggEgg's got T's looks and my temperament. For Cola, it's the reverse: my looks and T's temperament. In mathematical terms, we have achieved aclosed set, consisting of all possible permutations.
We're at the meat aisle waiting for Tonton to pick out the meat for dinner. "Look, these are food for doggies!" I pointed out to EggEgg. Suddenly, he said, "Mah 貓 (cat)!" Where? It turns out that he noticed some cat food misplaced in the dog food aisle.
We're at the toy aisle checking out the latest Bob the Builder toys on special. "Harvey!" EggEggexcitedly point out to the tow car. (Harvey's the tow train in the Thomas series). Aside from "Bob", the next English name he learnt is "Harvey". Hmm...
EggEgg won't let Tonton touch the trolley. Every time Tonton tried to push it, he tried to get rid of his hands. Heehee, it annoys Tonton to no end.
Whenever we finds yummy snacks, EggEgg reminds us that it's for everyone: "Nana (EggEgg),Marmee, Baybee, Barbar.. Nana, Marmee, Baybee, Barbar..." He chants his over and over againevery time we put items into his trolley.
For a bit of fun, I tried too accelerate the trolley down the aisle. "慢! 慢! (slow down!)" EggEgg is agitated. These days, he is also able to climb in and out of the car by himself, so if somebody tried to help him, he must go back and redo it himself. At the car door, I'll often say, "Don't you worry, I'm not getting you out. You do it yourself." Strangely, that boosts his ego and he'll be in & out quick as lighting.
Back home, EggEgg get the groceries out of the plastic bags and put away bread, cereals, fruits all into their proper place. Yay... I can get a cup of tea while this little domestic helper is at work.
