My back, oh my back. It's not easy to work on the garden while carrying a 8kg baby on one arm, while bending down to pull out weeds, plant seeds, water trees, and prune a hedge. But hey, I did it. (with the help of a pair of extra-long BBQ tongs, it should be advertised in the baby's supplies catalog!)
The kids loved it too. The moment I open the door to the garden, their tension evaporated. EggEgg rushed to grab his red croc shoes and his little lawn mower. Cola relaxed inside the pouch and enjoy the change of scenery.
EggEgg is always on the watch for lizards. He's terrified of them. I gave him a watering can for the plants, and he poured it all into the sewage pipe where one of the lizards lived! He even made me draw a picture on the sidewalk to inform others of the lizard's home.
When I'm busy pruning trees, EggEgg would look out for dandelions and its yellow flowers. He'd pick them, offer them to me as little gifts, and put the extra ones into the holes in our croc shoes as decoration.
Wonders never cease. We saw some yellow ladybirds on the cucumber leaves yesterday. Then EggEgg was giggling loudly when he noticed the yellow lemons on the citrus trees, they're almost ripe for picking. "Ah ah ah, uh uh uh,"... yes yes we will make lemonade for you from those.
Somedays we blow bubbles and see them rise into the air. EggEgg loved to see them "fly into the sky like the plane".
Somedays we push a trolley around the garden in high speed like a roller coaster, and EggEgg would accidentally pop out as we hit a slope.
Somedays we just sit under the big Jacaranda tree, each reading our own story books.
And Cola? Cola is always content to be close to me. Peaceful in his pouch. Oh yes, sometimes he has a feed in the garden too. I hope the neighbours aren't watching.
