Cooking - the final frontier of the domestic goddess-to-be

A well meaning girlfriend told me frankly, "It's part of wife duty."

Cooking. It's the most dreaded part of my daily chores. I can't cook well, I don't cook well even when I tried, and I gave up even trying after each attempt to reignite the motivation to cook.

Tonton has been cooking for both of us the past 10 years, since the day we met.

His best buddy once hinted to me,  "A man loves to return home to to eat a woman's home cooked meal."

Even the in-laws did not spare me.  "It's not normal for a guy to do the cooking". And where is the yardstick for the "norm" in a modern day society, where divorces are commonplace, single parents are everywhere, and 30 year old children still live in the same house with their parents?

Aiyaya. I succumb to the nagging. For the first time, I tried cooking again. It's 12 years since the last time I cooked at uni.

Verdict of this first meal: Tonton says, "Just passed".
He even took out a jar of pasta sauce to add extra flavour.

My girlfriend gave me a little consolation, "Well, 'just passed' is fine. At least he can put it in his mouth."
