Smile an everlasting smile.

It's 10 a.m on a Saturday and I am still sleeping in. The house is eerily quiet.

Blink, blink. I could see a smiling face next to me. Oh Cola, my darling Cola. Some time ago he must have climbed on to my bed. And he is now watching me sleep. Silently. Intently. His eyes completely absorbed with the image of a sleeping mother.

I smiled back and closed my eyes again. Where are the other boys? They must have gone out, leaving little Cola alone. I opened my eyes a little again, and there he is, still grinning widely at me. Oh, with that smile, I would move mountains and pluck the stars from the sky for you, my son.

Is that a look of relief that I see in his eyes, discovering that I am home once again, as I went out last night? Did he miss me after just one night of separation?

He started playing peekaboo with himself. Covering his face with both hands, giggling as he could not see a thing, followed by a burst of laughter as he flaps his arms about. After a few times playing solo peekaboo, he turned back to watch me sleep again.

Someday he will grow up and will stop watching over me as I sleep. Please, don't let that day come too soon.

Smile an everlasting smile,
A smile could bring you near to me
Don’t ever let me find you gone
‘Cause that would bring a tear to me

This world has lost it’s glory,
Let’s start a brand new story now, my love
Right now there’ll be no other time
And I can show you how, my love

Talk in everlasting words
And dedicate them all to me
And I will give you all my life
I’m here if you should call to me

You think that I don’t even mean
A single word I say
It’s only words, and words are all I have
To take your heart away

- From the song "Words" by the Bee Gees
