My Oma's funky cantonese

Even though my mum has lived in HongKong for over 10 years, her Cantonese has never been up to the standard.

In the afternoon, I heard her saying to EggEgg, "你要唔要象品? 婆婆有(Would you like some elephant goods? Grandma has some soup for you.)

What she meant was: 你要唔要獎品? 婆婆有糖糖(Would you like a prize? Grandma has some candy for you.)

No wonder why EggEgg showed no interest, and ran away from Oma, untempted by the offer.

While Tonton & I were having dinner, we overheard Oma talking to little Cola (aka, Isaac, or Sexy):

"蛇佬, 你係唔係食屎? (Snake man, do you want to eat some poo?)"

I was laughing out loud.  What she meant was: 細佬, 你係唔係好Sexy? (Little bro, you're so sexy!)

From that night onwards, the name "Snake Man" stuck.  Tonton would come home from work and ask little Cola, "今日蛇羹幾錢一碗? Hey, how much is a bowl of Snake Soup today? "
