Many friends have commented that EggEgg has a large amount of toys. But upon closer look, they would have noticed that his "toys" are merely well-kept, prized items of flour dough, pebbles, wood pieces, and bits and pieces that are picked up from the kerb.
Let's be honest, I love toys. I have a cupboard full of toys. Some of them has been purchased years before EggEgg was born. But I noticed that, it is not the shop-purchased ones that EggEgg love best. Rather, he loves those that we made together.
The flour dough? We pour and mix the ingredients together in the kitchen on rainy days, and his eyes widen as the dough turned from white to pink when I added the ink into it. He plays with it almost everyday, turning the dough into ice-cream, bread, fruits, and all sorts of yummy food that he could imagine. He drools so much on it that I had to make a fresh batch every month!
The pebbles? We collected them from the road on one of our long afternoon trike rides. Just "soaking" in a pool of pebbles gave him much fun for a good half an hour. He was very happy when I told him that we could pick some nice ones home to keep.
The misshapen wood blocks? I once had grandeur plans in making wooden toys for EggEgg while i was heavily pregnant with Cola. Although my first attempts with the jigsaw was mediocre, EggEgg was excited whenever he sees me holding the jigsaw, sanding here and sawing away. He helped me clamp the wood and cheer me on. Now whenever he plays with the blocks (which won't stand properly), he asks me if I would saw and paint some more for him.
The kerbside toys? Oh! Won't you be thrilled too if you get to encounter "new" toys every now and then on your way to the park? EggEgg would even give up his seat on the stroller and help drag the toys home. Even the washing, disinfecting and drying process makes his day extra special as he ferries the toys between the kitchen sink and the garden.
