I find it hard to write specifically about Cola. Not that I love him any less, but his whole person is so... normal. He's cute, and intelligent, and quick to learn and observant, but as "the squeaky wheel gets the grease", EggEgg inadvertently draws up all my attention and energy.
For every task I asked Cola to do, we have outgrown the "No" and have transitioned into the "Why?" response. We know that his Why equals to a No.
"Let's change your nappy now."
"Why change nappy, suddenly?"
"Hurry up, eat your breakfast. We need to send EggEgg to pre-school now."
"Why send EggEgg to pre-school, suddenly?"
I doubt if Cola fully understand the meaning of the word "suddenly", but he loves to incorporate it into his Why sentences to make him sound more... persuasive.
***************
Cola loves to copy every move, every sentence, every expression from EggEgg. As I tried to spoon him a mouthful of the blue-berry flavoured vitamin, he pointed to the bottle and started spelling,
"R-O-M-B-W-... S'berry!"
Random letters just popped out, and somehow that translates into the word "Strawberry"?!
Yes he can count too, in English no less. On the way to pre-school, in the morning, he pointed out to the buses on the busy Epping Road.
"One, two, three, eight, nine, eleven, ten! Mami, there are TEN buses on the road!"
***************
Unlike EggEgg who is exceptionally generous with sharing, Cola is pretty possessive about his food. One day, he asked of me,
"Mami, hurry give me some corn (cob)"
I threw him one of the most typical questions that all parents asks. "Hmm... Cola, do you like corn more, or Mami more?"
"Corn!" comes the immediate reply.
Not believing my ears, I rephrased the question a little differently. "I mean, do you like Mami more, or corn more?"
"Corn!" comes the unfaltering reply.
My confidence is shattered. I lost to a bowl of corn cobs!
***************
"Mami, don't put your arms around my shoulder."
Cola shrugs off my arm when we watch movies on the sofa.
"No hugs? No cuddles? But I want to hold you."
"Let's just hold hands." And he held my hand.
I'm slightly heart-broken, like a teenage girl that's just been dumped!
