Driving home, I noticed that the Jacarandas are about to burst into their annual brilliance. Here comes my favourite tree. It reminded me of the time Cola was born.
So I told Cola in the backseat, "Hey, do you know, when the Jacaranda trees bloom and turn purple, that means that it's almost time for your birthday?"
Cola answered in his usual singsong voice, "啊我都唔知添! Oh I didn't know that!"
It always makes me smile whenever he says that. That's his trademark line of getting out of trouble by feigning ignorance and acting cute.

Back home, Cola loves to update EggEgg on the events of the day over afternoon tea.
Cola proudly prophesied, "哥哥, 你知唔知我生日嗰日, 啲樹會變紅色! Big Brother, do you know, on the day of my birthday, the trees will turn red!"
I burst out laughing. The concept of cause and effect is apparently lost on this three-year-old.
So I corrected him, "唔係紅色,係紫呀,傻瓜! The trees will turn purple, not red, you silly boy."
After a moment, he got confused and modified his prophesy, "媽咪話我生日會啲樹變粉紅色! Mami said on my birthday the trees will turned pink!"
