"Miss Knight (his kindy teacher) gave everyone something to do today." EggEgg informed me as we walked home from school.
"What's this 'thing'?"
"Everybody has a name on a magnet, blue magnet with boys names, red magnet with girls names, and she stuck it on a board. Then everyone has to do something."
"Something? Like what?"
"Like, the person who stands at the head of the line has to do something. But that's not me."
"Huh?" I'm getting more puzzled by the minute.
"Miss Knight told me to carry the lunch crates back to the rooms after we finish. Some other kid have to check the playground to see if others have left behind items."
"Oh, you mean, you are given school duties!"
"Yes, duties, duties!" Finally, he's found the correct word to describe the situation.
"So you are the strong man who carry crates huh? And the other kids are the garbage men?"
"Hahaha. No, the other kids are not garbage men. They are just checking the ground! "
I then explained to EggEgg that once upon a time Mami had duties in school too. We have the roster to wipe the blackboard everytime the teacher has filled it up with writing.
Now it's EggEgg's turn to get puzzled. "Mami, what's a blackboard?"
Ah.... welcome to the digital age.
