Today our first mortgage repayment letter from the bank has arrived.
"Dear Tonton & Jappy,
Your monthly mortgage repayment will be $xxxx, with the first payment to be due on 29 December 2010. Your mortgage will be discharged in 2040. Thanks for being our customer"
Year 2040?!
A few thoughts immediately crept into my mind:
1) Tonton & I will have white hair by then. We'll be 63 years old. We'll probably be shuffling around slowly, watching TV most of the day in the sunny lounge room. Who will mow the lawn for us?
2) 2040, would humankind be migrating to Mars by then? Should I sell my house and get a new property on Mars? Will our kids come back from Mars to visit us often?
Oh dreadful thoughts!
