Pre-school Year 2, Term 3

As I buckle up EggEgg in his car seat, I asked, "Hello! What did you do in school today?"

These days EggEgg beat me to it and asked a counter-question instead, "Tell me first, while I was at school, what did you and Cola do?"

I'd always skip the details of the fun cafe and shopping excursion, and attempt to paint a picture of an utterly boring domestic life during the hours while he was at school. "... and so Cola played by himself while I wash the dishes and do the laundry, as usual. We basically did NOTHING and we have been waiting for you to come home to play with us."

EggEgg then proceed to interrogate Cola, "What did you play today? Did you play inside the new fire-station?" (ie. the cot that has been converted to a play structure.)
"Uh! Hm! Hm!"

Just then a bus went past our way. Cola pointed and named: "子!子!"
EggEgg quickly corrected with an eagerness to show off his knowledge, "No, Cola you're so wrong. That is NOT a 子. That is a 巴子."

I clutched harder at the driver's wheel as I could barely suppress a chuckle. Then there is a mental debate of "Should I correct EggEgg? Or should I let him have his moment of triumph over his little bro?"

A week later, on the same stretch of Epping road near the train station, another bus came past. This time, Cola pronounced correctly, "巴...子!"

EggEgg did not waste a moment to point out that, "No, Cola you are wrong. That is not 巴子. That is a 跛遮. (That's not a bus, that's a train.)"
