Coming home from the last Jakarta holiday, EggEgg has grown up so much. He walked, and climbed, and create a path of destruction quicker than I could pick up after him. He could feed himself, pushing 2 grapes into his already full mouth. His social confidence has grown and it no longer takes him half an hour to warm up to friends and strangers. He has even outgrown his separation anxiety (hurray!) and could get up and down the stairs to play without me! Indeed, such a big boy now. I no longer have to fly up and down those 54 steps of stairs between his room and kitchen within the 10 seconds he turned his head away.
Yesterday as I was vacummning with my super-duper-high-tech vacumn cleaner (which Tonton has won from the lucky draw last month), my little Egg Egg has even helped me push it along where I'm vacumnning and picks up the cleaning nozzle for me to use. I feel so happy with EggEgg's new maturity.
He is a boy who's so eager to please. Whenever I warned him not to touch something by sternly saying "no, baby", he would blinked his eyes hard as if trying to hold back tears. His mouth would curl tightly in fear that I'd love him less because of the naughty act. My mum noticed this in Jakarta and commented, "He reacts exactly like you when you were small!" What mum didn't realised was that I was eager to please her too, and her scolding make me scared of her loving me less.
Yes, I've always known this: EggEgg's got Tonton's looks, and Jappy's personality within.
