The sweetest Bobo

Cola was throwing his trademark tantrum again all night since Monday. Didn't want to eat his lunchbox, didn't want to unpack his school bag, didn't want to start his homework.  By dinner time I was exhausted and discussion options with Tonton to bring Cola to see a psychologist.

On Tuesday, Bobo noticed I'm still stressed. "Mami, why do you look not happy?"  "Because Cola is making me upset."

Bobo then shared with me about his mood lifting strategies.  "When I see Cola not happy, I tickle him to make him laugh. Or I give him a cuddle."
(I saw Bobo did give Cola a cuddle in the morning, but the old grump remained impassive to Bobo's gentle touch, walking briskly away from Bobo's arms.)

By the end of a long day of emotional tug of war with Cola, who finally completed his homework after a 9-hour delay, I finished my shower and opened the bathroom door to pleasantly see a piece of paper on the floor.

It says, "Peter", his characteristic green color folded into a square envelope.  I opened to see a Shuriken star.  Bobo doesn't know how to fold a shuriken origami, but he was clever enough to figure out how to cut 4 pieces of airplane shape trapezoid, then tape them up together.

He didn't only make one for me, he made 6 shuriken stars, for each member of the family. It must have taken him quite some time to fold, cut and tape up all 24 pieces of paper.  Tonton walked by, and proudly said, "I've got one too!!"

****************
The next day, when I picked up Bobo from school, he tells me that his best friend William has a birthday party at school. Each child has a cup of jelly with a dinosaur lolly on top.

Without hesitation, he scooped out the jelly to share with Ladder who was eager to see him after a day of being alone at home.

"The green layer taste like lemonade, William told me. The red layer tasted like raspberry."

Scoop by scoop Bobo and Ladder shared. I am surprised that Ladder was even chewing the dino lolly that Bobo gave selflessly.

Half way thru the jelly cup Bobo remembered. "I don't want to finish it now. I want to bring it to show Cola."

But Ladder doesn't want to stop eating. Bobo negotiated gently with Ladder, "You want? Yiu ng yiu? If you want, sit in your car seat in front first. I will give you later."

Ladder obeyed Bobo without his usual 2 yo spirit. It melts my heart to see such level of friendship between these two.

So we started the car, and proceed to pick up Cola from his school.

As soon as Cola gets in the car, Bobo says excitedly, "Look, today is William's birthday and he gave me this!!"  Cola remembered that he's not supposed to respond with a cool "so what?"  so he turned to me and asked, "What am i supposed to say?"

I told Cola, "Your brother Bobo has saved the jelly to show you.  He likes you very much. You should show some interest in him."

Cola turned to Bobo, "Okay. I see."
Bobo, "Do you want some?" He scooped it into Cola's mouth. "Hai mai Good ah?" (Isn't it good?)

By the time we got home, Bobo has also shared his last bits of jelly with EggEgg. "Thank you" Egg said without being prompted.

My Bobo, my ever so gentle Bobo.
