Happiness is ... making mini-cookies, donuts, ice-cream out of pink and blue playdough in the quiet evening, and serving it on a platter to Daddy as soon as he walks into the house.
Happiness is ... having impromptu concerts on the front porch while watering the plants. Amusing mispronounced versions of "Jingle jingle little tar" and "Bob-the-builder they make muffin".
Happiness is ... seeing the blind leading the blind. "No, Cola, you're wrong. It's not Oop! Oop is wrong! You should say Koop like me..." while pointing to a picture of Scoop the bulldozer.
Happiness is ... that longing look on Cola's face as he secretly take out and examine EggEgg's new Thomas-the-tank-engine undies. The futile attempts to put them on his stubby feet. The envy in his eyes as he watch EggEgg put them on so easily.
Happiness is ... seeing the fresh, round faces wearing ridiculously large sunglasses, trying to balance them precariously on their nose.
Happiness is ... the innocence of EggEgg as he points at the dust bunnies inside the car, and reported, "look Mami, mosquitoes!"
Happiness is ... merrily singing "Toot toot Chugga chugga" and "Hot potato" on a irresistible Big Red Car every time we walk past one in the mall. (How I dread the day when they'll say, "Mami, you're embarrassing me.")
Happiness is ... a cheery "Hi!" from Cola, and a clingy "Good Morning!" from EggEgg before they attempt to snuggle into my warm bed in the morning.
Happiness is ... seeing the two oompa loompas holding hands, a bond of total trust, as one drags the other towards uncharted waters. Knowing that we will be right behind them if they ever need us.
Happiness is ... rewarding the children with treats at the end of the day. The sparkle in their eyes as they watch the treats jar open and the hard choice they have to make: chocolate ice-cream, fruity jelly, or the mysterious purple candy?
Happiness is ... seeing the candy on display on the cupboard in the morning. Still unconsumed. The treat is like a trophy, a stamp of goodness.
Happiness is ... being completely, totally loved by the little one. "Mami hasn't got any to eat? Here, eat mine!" when yummy treats have run out.
Happiness is ... EggEgg the Viking pushing a gigantic green wheelie bin towards the cashier in the department store. A Scandinavian garbage-man one moment, a handy-man the next.
Happiness is ... browsing the photo albums, realizing that their brightest smiles have always been reserved just for me.
