Many years ago, my dad used to ask me when he arrive home, "Why aren't you bringing me my slippers?" It went in one ear and out the other.
Today, EggEgg and Cola are genuinely pleased to see me home. Both of them are leaning against the window, their face squashed flat, waving "hi!" ecstatically as my car pulled into the driveway.
EggEgg hurried and took out my slippers for me to put on. He put my shoes into the shoe cupboard.
Now I can finally understand this gesture. It means this: Welcome home. You're finally back, you are not allowed to go out and leave us anymore.

Cola and EggEgg are happily eating watermelons on this 37c summer day.
After waiting for me to finish wiping down kitchen bench, EggEgg asked, "Mami, come and eat watermelon." I see he has left a few more chunks specially for me.
