Ladder inspected his favourite lime tree, and there, he picked the large limes. "Mami! Lemons! I have 6 lemons. I want to put them UPSTAIRS." He still refers to the rumpus downstairs as Upstairs. (And sometimes he refers to the bathroom as Kitchen. Often he will announce, "I need to go to pee in the kitchen now.") Inside his drawer down at the rumpus, one day I found a few old limes. I wonder why he likes to collect limes? Perhaps they smell nice?
Playing kinetic sand with Ladder, moulding a cake, then reminding me, "You must sing your song." Then we sing an abridged version of "Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday to you, hip hip hooray!" cutting the cake and dumping it back into the bowl.
Make a "dollar" using a spoon with the kinetic sand to pay for some ice cream. With Ladder scooping out ice cream just like what we had at the beach yesterday. What flavour do you want? "Er... Strawberry! Cookies! Hokey Pokey!" Just last week, he wasn't able to name any ice-cream flavour at all! At the park, Ladder was trying to sell me some ice cream. "What flavours have you got, Ladder?" "Er... sugar flavour!"
Pruning the curry tree and then using the branches as an umbrella. I can see Ladder walking around the lawn with the "umbrella" over his head, chanting loudly, "it's raining! raining!" Then as he grew tired of holding up the branch, he turned it around and used it as a broom to sweep the floor. "Mami, I'm sweeping the floor!"
Picking up the black curry fruits, knowing that it doesn't taste any good. "Mami, it's bad." (As in, Good means yummy, Bad means yucky.) He lined them up into a triangle, and announced, "Mami, I made a smiling face." Hehe
We jumped on the trampoline a bit, and he insisted that I should put my feet inside the tub of colour balls. "Because that's taking a bath. You need to take a bath."
Finally, I got around to prune those monstrous hedges that have been growing wildly after a month of rain. Ladder kept collecting the branches, busying himself with helping me in the garden. We are a good team after all.
Such are the days when I could almost believe that he's my only child.
