A day that makes it all worthwhile

This is an exceptionally sweet day. A day to remember.

8:00 Tonton's alarm clock gave me a heart attack with its sharp ring. I've always hated his alarm clock. Tried to roll back to sleep with little excited Cola (baby #2) when I hear "Heee Haaa"... "Buuuu Gaaaa"... "Maaaaa Daaaa"... coming from EggEgg's room. In bed, half awake, how can I resist a smile? He is so, so cute.

8:30 Tumbling down 3 flights of stairs to the kitchen to prepare some breakfast for Egg Egg. (That's 21 steps down, and don't forget there's another 21 steps up. I've gotta go up to Egg's nursery & down to the kitchen at least 10 times a day, that makes 420 steps daily.) Hmmm... what shall we have today. Let's be slack and just have banana and biscuit. I made my coffee and his bottle of milk. Oh, gotta hide the biscuit in my pockets otherwise he won't touch the banana!

8:45 Opened Egg Egg's nursery door and he is already pacinging inside the cot, holding onto his toy tiger, eagerly waiting to start his day. At the sight of me (or the breakfast?) he broke out a big smile and dumped the tiger. "Have you slept well, little Egg?"

Once he's out of the cot, he go straight to examine his breakkie. "Hmm... it's banana today. Anything else? I could hear something suspicious rustling inside mummy's pocket. Ah..." So he kept on pointing & poking to the biscuit packet. I have to quietly place it high on top of the bookshelf where he couldn't reached. But, he saw it! Grabbing a wobbly stool, EggEgg climbed on it and tried to look at the top of the bookshelf. This dare-devil has falled off the stool a couple of times before, but that has not deterred him from trying this stunt.
"Urk-urk-uh-uh." Point. Poke. Pull my sleeves. "Okay, finish your banana and we shall have biscuits."

9:00 He drank his milk with his head on my lap. How we loved it. He'd gaze into my eyes, and I'll examine him closely to see if he's grown overnight. Ah! I detect long finger nails, great opportunity to cut it, as this is the ONLY time of the day when he is lying still.

9:15 The 10 hour Play-Marathon begins. Egg Egg started pulling out all his toys from the toy box: Screwball Scramble... Looping Louie airoplane... Popup Pirate... 100 wooden blocks... 20 pieces puzzle... his precious metal soup ladle... dominos train... stacking rings...

How very satisfying it is to see him improve everyday! From putting the metal balls into his mouth, he can now put them onto the Screwball Scramble track and press buttons to make the ball move. From hitting and trying to pull apart the Looping Louie airoplane, he can now set up the base and tracks himself and hit the buttons on cue to make the airoplane turn. He can even insert the swords into the Popup Pirate barrel and make the Pirate jump. It's amazing how quickly they learn. Out of boredom, I poked EggEgg's fat tummy with a sword, and he poked me back!!

9:30 I'm getting bored of watching him play. Started to read a book on photography (my latest hobby). Seeing that I'm reading, he pulled his board books out of the bookshelf and sat down next to me to read. There's always a favorite page in each book that makes his eyes sparkle.
In the "Very Hungry Caterpillar" book, he would skip all the introductory pages (A catapillar is born under the moon, blah blah blah) and open straight to the page where there's FOOD! Wow, cheese! cake! icecream! watermelon! EggEgg would excitedly poke and poke.
In the "Babies 123" book, he would flip and flip until he find the page where there are 10 busy babies. "Ah my friends!"

10:00 Poo of the day. Yuck!

10:30 Went to check my email in the bedroom. Ah! Surprise, surprise, EggEgg is not following me. What peace and quiet. But hey, here he comes, dragging along a book.
He showed me the page where there's a bunch of purple grapes, and make a grabbing motion. (That's his hand sign for "want".) "Okay, you want to eat grapes? Let's get it from the fridge!" And he climbed all the way down to the kitchen quick as a lightning.

11:00 "Come on EggEgg. Would you like to go to the park?" He'd get so excited, drop whatever he's playing and immediately pick up his hat & shoes to get ready. When we arrived, there was this other little Indian girl whom we met last week. Egg Egg began to point excitedly to girl to bid her join. "Urk urk urk!! That's my friend from yesterday!"

Today, Egg Egg has decided to climb up the slide and slide down all by himself. Yahoo, another achievement!
